Review by Allison Martin Early Passage: A Journal for Parents of Premies is a different type of baby book for parents of preemies. It is strictly focused on premature birth and preemies. What makes this book unique is it's in-depth focus on the feelings related to prematurity, totally unlike any other baby book. It does not ask you to record as much of the specific details of your baby, but rather focuses on the emotions of the experience. This is a very useful book for parents who are coping with the emotional fall out of prematurity. Even 15 year later I can answer many of the questions in this book, it is that on target and the experience is that powerful. This book helps you to explore, and accept, many of the stages of having a preemie - from pregnancy and early birth through childhood. Separate sections focus on issues like partners, siblings and death. Chapter topics include: Whose Baby is This? Collaborative Care, Facing Critical Illness and Surgery, Homeward Bound: Ready or Not, Here I Come! Some examples of the range and compassion of the questions are:
